If you are a well-established artist, you will already likely know your niche and will have a good understanding of the types of clients that are typically interested in your work.
If you are an emerging artist, then this is an area that needs some thought to be given to. The clearer you are as an artist about your work and who is your target audience, the easier it will be to communicate and sell to collectors.
The art market is segmented into different specialisms. When we talk about niche, it is simply a specialised segment of the market for a particular kind of art. A niche can be by style, medium and/or subject. For example instead of saying “I create paintings,” you can be specific to the niche “I create pastel landscape paintings”.
