2023 Achievement
The recognition as a finalist in the VAA Professional Artist of the Year Award served as a significant confidence booster and validation for my artistic career. It instilled hope and reassurance that my journey as an artist is still progressing. This acknowledgment has not only elevated my self-esteem but has also opened doors to new possibilities and perspectives in my artistic endeavors. Learning to embrace the diversity of creative skills I’ve explored over the years has been a pivotal lesson in 2023. This newfound understanding has led to a more authentic approach in my work, allowing for a broader and more genuine expression of creativity. Breaking down boundaries on creative expression, I’ve discovered and delved into the realm of abstract prints. This year marked a significant return to my roots as a graphic designer, a facet of my creative journey that I once considered not “creative enough” or not “real” artistry.
Lesson learned from 2023
I’ve learned to incorporate graphic design into my broader skill set, no longer shying away from any aspect of my creativity. This holistic embrace of my skills has not only expanded my artistic horizons but has also brought a deeper enjoyment to the creative process, fostering appreciation for the entire journey.
2024 Goals
In 2024, my aspiration is to create art that carries significant meaning and relevance to movements that advocate for justice and peace. The profound impact of witnessing the conflict in Gaza has fuelled a desire to contribute to the discourse on compassion and understanding. I aim to channel these sentiments into my work through elements of nature and symbolism. The driving force behind this aspiration is the need to remind people of the importance of empathy and compassion. More than ever, through my art, I hope to inspire reflection and foster a deeper understanding of the shared human experience.
