2023 Achievement
I’ve had a really good year this year. I completely overhauled my practice, my process and started creating work for me rather than trying to be everything to everyone. As I result, I was selected for the RCA’s Open Exhibition 2023, the RWA’s Open Exhibition and the ING Discerning Eye Exhibition.
Lesson learned from 2023
I think being brave and putting myself out there has been an interesting experience. I have had a lot of success this year but have also experienced rejections. My takeaway? I learn something from every single submission so even if I’m not selected I have still won cause I have gained experience. I would also add that a rejection does not mean that you are not good it just means that you are not right for that particular exhibition at that particular time.
2024 Goals
My aspiration for 2024 is to create a new collection featuring a range of different sized paintings with different price points. I’ve had a number of clients ask when I’m going to create some big statement pieces and, although I am slightly intimidated by the thought of ‘going large’, I’m going to feel the fear and do it anyway! Wish me luck!
