2023 Achievement
I’ve had a very successful 2023, in fact I smashed it. Here’s the trail of events that led to a very satisfying collaboration, culminating in a high profile science exhibition in London, with new skills and contacts in my ever-growing toolbox as a science led artist. After nearly a year collaborating with teams from the Universities of Edinburgh, Nottingham, and Southampton which included digitally designing a t-shirt logo, digital assets for their website, and creating a digital frontage for their web app game, plus advising them on how best to use my skills within their exhibit at the Royal Society’s Summer Science Exhibition in London. During the five days of the exhibition I painted, on-site and live, Martian landscapes and deep space objects which were also live-streamed directly into the ‘Mars to Humans’ exhibit stand. The Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition 2023 had around 10,000 visitors and I’m pretty certain that I talked to most of those visitors as they watched me paint and deliver science outreach.
2024 Goals
2024 events have already been booked into my diary, some were written in 2022. I will be exhibiting my artwork as part of a group exhibition at Firstsite Gallery in Colchester, Essex, which will open on 8th June 2024 (Space Show – Lunar Lullabies). I have designed and will deliver art workshops for the local community on site during the February half term, which will include the creation of 3D rockets (paper sculptures) and planetary elements that will form two large mobiles that will be hung within the gallery as part of the Space Show exhibition. As part of the exhibition Firstsite Gallery have also commissioned an artwork from me which I am about to start work on.
