The Momentum CEO Rise Programme is a focussed four-week course created to help artists establish a stronger, more sustainable art business. Through a series of guided sessions, you will clarify your artistic direction, refine your professional identity, and learn how to develop income streams that support long-term growth. The programme is structured to help you gain clarity, build confidence, and create momentum in your practice.

Led by Karen van Hoey Smith, Artist Mentor, art broker and experienced curator, the course draws on real industry examples and practical guidance. Karen’s background spans art consultancy, gallery management, auctioneering, and professional artist development, giving participants an informed and strategic insight into how artists can progress within the contemporary art market.

Across four weekly seminars, you will take part in discussion, review case studies and receive feedback on short weekly tasks designed to help you shape your strategy and strengthen your business skills. Each session provides an opportunity to reflect on your goals and take actionable steps forward.

Course Structure

Session 1: Creating Your Artist Strategy
Understanding your long-term artistic direction, defining your vision, clarifying goals and setting a clear foundation for growth.

Session 2: Artwork Ready
Developing your story and brand, communicating confidently, identifying your niche and understanding your ideal buyer to strengthen your positioning.

Session 3: Multiple Streams of Art Income
Exploring income opportunities available to artists including galleries, art fairs, publishers, commissions and alternative routes to market, with guidance on how to access them.

Session 4: Implementation and Gap Analysis
Applying practical systems for consistent sales, identifying areas for development and building a realistic plan to move your art business forward.

This course is ideal for artists who wish to gain a clearer understanding of their next steps, increase visibility, and develop a structured path towards achieving their professional ambitions.
