2023 Achievement
My most notable achievement came when I was selected and exhibited at the Royal West of England Open in 2003. It was further enhanced when I sold the displayed framed photograph. Later, finding out that the entire edition sold out at the RWA was….quite incredible.
Lesson learned from 2023
What valuable lesson did I learn? Listen to what the artist has to say about their work. It reminds me not to dismiss work I don’t initially like. I go to as many artists talks as I can. When I hear what the artist has to say about their work, how they arrived at the concept, how it changed in the making and how it links to their vision, it makes me reassess my original appraisal of the work as well as my own thinking.
